Created in conjunction with Deadpool’s Super Duper Dance Party, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment teamed up with VUDU to launch a sweepstakes wherein one lucky winner would have an opportunity to sleep in a meticulously-themed “Dream Suite” at the Hard Rock Hotel during San Diego Comic-Con. Fox brought on The Visionary Group to transform the living area of the suite into Blind Al’s apartment, otherwise known as Deadpool’s home away from home in the movies.
The Visionary Group turned the clean, modern, and glossy look of the Hard Rock Hotel’s Diamond Suite into a grungy, trashy-chic space resembling Blind Al’s living quarters from the movie. TVG filled the space with meticulously detailed tchotchkes and Easter eggs from (and thoughtfully inspired by) Deadpool. TVG also helped outfit the sweepstakes winner’s bedroom with on-theme bedding and collateral.
The Visionary Group worked alongside their in-house fabrication shop White Walls Fabrication to create a custom brick wall / entry door facade, covered in Deadpool posters and hand-drawn artwork.
TVG handled concept ideation, set design, sourcing of furniture, tchotchkes, and props, design of graphics, signage, and other branded collateral, check-in and brand ambassador management, and vendor procurement.
The Dream Suite received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the client, as well as talent from Deadpool 2 who stopped by for the activation’s Global Media Day. The space was covered extensively by entertainment media publications including IGN, Fan Fest News, and Comics Beat. The suite was also named one of the Best Activations at San Diego Comic-Con 2018 by pop-culture publication Den Of Geek.
