The Visionary Group was tasked with bringing the world of Fox’s new show “Empire” to life for the series premiere screening at the Arclight Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard, and the after-party at the W Hollywood. Projected as a frontrunner of Fox’s lineup, it was important to ensure that guests felt they were experiencing the world of Empire throughout the event. TVG recreated the Empire Records Headquarters for the screening and transformed the outdoor hotel space into a replica of one of the show’s most prominent sets – Laviticus Nightclub. TVG met executives’ expectations and pulled off two high profile events in one evening. Show talent included Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Naomi Campbell, Gabourey Sidibe and Timbaland. Celebrity guests included Jennifer Hudson, Christina Milian, and Raven Symone.

CONCEPT & VISION

Two sets from the show were recreated inside the Arclight Hollywood and W hotel to give guests an exclusive “Empire” experience. Touches of gold, red, and luxe fabrics were represented throughout the space.

FABRICATION

TVG fabricated the press wall with rotating gold records on clock motors, custom chandelier structures above seating vignettes, and they created stretched canvas prints of the cast. Etched decals were placed on mirrored back bars and entrance elevators.

PRODUCTION

Coordinating the dome lighting projection and installing the Cinerama Dome marquee banner at the Arclight was no small feat as the building was in disrepair. A TVG team of 6 crew members got the job done on the day of the event.
